Listening to the Hillary Clinton camp, the bar keeps moving higher and higher. Earlier in the evening Obama’s wins in Washington and Nebraska didn’t mean anything, they said, because the caucus format favored him. Later in the evening, Louisiana didn’t count, they said, because he was going to win there all along.
They’re already saying the same thing about Tuesday’s races along the Potomac: that these states already favor him, so he can’t win because he can’t exceed expectations.
I photographed Senator Obama a year ago this month. He headlined a rally in Austin; Drew and I went there; I shot with the same Graflex my grandfather used to photograph Kennedy’s campaign. At the time of that rally, I’m not gonna lie, I was a bit underwhelmed. He did not exceed my expectations on that day. But the more I heard from him, the more I came to understand this moment, the more I began to believe in his vision.
It counts, Hillary. This solemn act, of believing and making a choice, counts. And in each state where we reject you, we exceed all previous expectations.
